My mother-in-law made this egg bake last weekend, and it was one of the best I have ever had. I took it to work for a baby shower and several people asked for the recipe. Here it is...Enjoy!
room temperature butter
12 slices of white bread with crusts removed
shredded cheddar cheese
cubed ham or browned sausage
6 eggs
3 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup melted oleo
1 cup crushed corn flakes
Butter a 9 by 13 pan. Lay 6 slices of white bread on the bottom. Sprinkle cheese and meat over the bread. Butter 6 more slices of bread. Lay them butter side down on top of the cheese and meat. Mix together eggs, milk, and mustard. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, mix melted oleo and corn flakes. Sprinkle mixture on top. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
